The Green Key – an eco-label for sustainable tourism

Danhostel Ribe is an eco-friendly hostel and the only environmentally certified accommodation in Ribe and the only one in the Wadden Sea National Park, Denmark.

We make an extra effort to protect the environment and the climate and make it easier for you to care for the environment without it diminishing your experience and comfort.

Green Key is an international eco-tourism label represented in more than 45 countries. Green Key hotels and hostels include introducing environmental management, reducing energy and water consumption, waste separation, using environmentally friendly detergents and cleaning agents, promoting organic products, avoiding chemical weed control products and much more. 

If you choose a Green Key hostel or hotel, you automatically help to protect the environment.
A Green Key certification is awarded for only 12 months, after which it must be renewed. A certified inspector visits us as part of the process.

The hostel has received the eco-label every year since 1997, and was one of the first in Denmark to receive it.

Tripadvisor Green Leaders,  Cycling Denmark and Bed+Bike

are other eco-labels Danhostel Ribe has received. Tripadvisor Green Leaders for being an environmentally friendly accommodation. Cycling Denmark and Bed+Bike are quality labels for being bicycle friendly accommodation. Furthermore the hostel is a Wadden Sea National Park Partner.

As a guest you can help the environment and us by:

• Sorting the garbage for recycling
• Economize on water and heat
• Close the window when the heat is on
• Turn off the light in your room (when you don’t need it)
• Inform us about dripping taps, running toilets, etc.
